Forestry

Our forestry practices align with our livestock breeding as well as our commitment to sustainability and to the local economy. We make sure these practices complement each other for the benefit of each, while protecting the environment.

Timber

We supply raw pine logs from our sustainably managed forest to local markets, contributing to the domestic wood industry. In the future, we hope to sell a finished product to the international market.

Our forest plantations include the following species:

Pine

Oak

Cedar

Mahogany

Elephant-Ear Tree

Reforestation projects

We are committed to responsible reforestation of our forests as part of our ongoing forestry activities. We work with the Forestry Conservation Institute (ICF) in Honduras to conduct reforestation projects in compliance with the law.

How our silvopastoral system works

USDA defines Silvopasture as “the deliberate integration of trees and grazing livestock operations on the same land. These systems are intensively managed for both forest products and forage, providing both short- and long-term income sources.”

Better Livestock Conditions

The trees provide livestock with shelter from harsh conditions like heat, wind and rain, reducing stress and improving animal well-being.

Weed and Pest Control

Grazing among the trees works as natural weed control, which is particularly helpful during dry season to prevent forest fires.

Improved Soil and Water Retention

The combination of tree and plant roots leads to greater root density, which increases the quality of the soil, water retention, and more.
